System Engineer

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, supporting, and reporting on server and network environment at PSP to ensure that services are available to all users while pursuing an uptime of 99.99+%.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Detects error/problematic messages that signal malfunction in server and/or network by monitoring display screen, checking alert emails, and communicating with 3rd vendors or business partners.
  • DNS support such as Initial setting, Update, Backup, Deletion, and Restoring.
  • Log extraction to support Advanced System Engineer for trouble shootings.
  • Network support such as IP block on Firewall/Server, Enable/Disable port on Firewall and connectivity test using commands like ping, tracert, lookup, latency, hop testing, and so on.
  • Makes a requested report for customers/business partners.
  • HW replacement such as HDD, RAM, RAID Battery, NIC and so on.
  • Responds system errors within designated way.
  • Windows server creation (HV/VM) from the scratch / by clone
  • Linux server creation (HV/VM) from scratch / by clone
  • Failover machine setup/verification for Windows and Linux environments
  • Storage setup such as Volume creation /expansion /deletion
  • Backup setting for Windows and Linux servers
  • Physical server setup including mounting and cabling.
  • Network gear mounting for Switch, Router, and Firewall.
  • Firewall configuration setup for Windows and Linux environments
  • Switch configuration setup for Windows and Linux environments
  • Alerts setup on the monitoring system
  • SSL certificate support for installation and renewal for Windows and Linux environments
  • Condition check of Data center.
  • Makes announcements for maintenance for internal/external users
  • Uses CLI (Command Line Interface) to accomplish tasks.
  • Troubleshoots and assists customers to perform any remediation steps necessary when problems are realized. (e.g. Troubleshooting for email environment by using IMAP repair tool and Service/Server restart.)
  • Spam support such as removal of spam email from mail queue
  • Data recovery support such as restoring web contents/missing emails from backup
  • Hacking investigation
  • Updates documentation to record new equipment installed and changes made to computer configurations.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance.

This position does not have any direct reports. Occasionally is required to delegate work to other engineers.

Project Coordinator for Server Team

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for working with the server team to understand and manage project and timelines. This position will work as main liaison with R&D and Support departments, prioritize needs, and communicate with our partners. Fluent in Japanese and English

Marketing / Social Media Coordinator

SUMMARY

Responsible for social media management and strategies to bring more awareness to PSPINC, the company’s services, and client’s services. As our Social Media & Marketing Coordinator you will coordinate the online marketing presence of the company, which includes managing social media efforts, preparing online newsletters, and coordinating online marketing campaigns.   • Help develop the company and it’s clients’ social media strategy and goals to increase engagement and with customers and expanding reach and exposure.
  • Plan online promotional activities specifically linked to the company and client’s online presence.
  • Coordinate campaigns and programs - including website updates and utilization; updates content based on patterns identified in the analytics data.
  • Ability to develop and coordinate strategies to take new software solutions to market to garner exposure from outlets and promote new user registration.

Junior Project Coordinator

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for working with the R&D teams to understand and manage project timelines. They will also assist in communicating project expectations and timelines with the Sales and Support departments. As well as be the key point of contact with OEM partners to manage requests and work with stakeholders to prioritize needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works with internal teams to identify the key solutions that add value to our offerings.
  • Maintains all projects on a regular basis, adjusting as needed should project priorities or deadlines shift.
  • Able to anticipate project challenges and suggest an action plan to mitigate delays and keep projects on schedule
  • Understands all R&D projects and available resources. Assists in establishing reasonable milestones between design, development, and QA.
  • Ensure proper technical specification documents (specs, blueprints, etc.) are prepared and maintained for every step of the project lifecycle.
  • Communicates project expectations with all project stakeholders throughout the company before, during, and after project completion.
  • Recipient of bug reports from our Sales/Support team. Prioritize, prepare/assign tickets, and keep the reporter informed on progress and delays.
  • Key liaison with OEM partners when it comes to receiving requests, working with PSPINC stakeholders to establish priorities, and communicating that back with partners.

Bilingual Web Application Tester (Japanese and English)

SUMMARY

Primary duty is to be responsible for the localization and testing of all Japanese products and services. Is accountable for ensuring all Japanese content speaks with a consistent and coherent voice. Also is the primary point person for all Japanese interface and functionality testing. Working closely with other Web Application Testers, Designers, Developers, and Project Managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Localize content for websites, web applications, print media, and internal documentation from English to Japanese at a business level
  • Test and bug fix verification on Japanese websites, web applications, and interfaces. Then report any bugs found and work closely with teams to solve issues.
  • Reproduce any issues/bugs reported by customers and internal stakeholders
  • Post to Japanese company blogs and websites
  • Provides clear and concise feedback on bugs, usability and other test findings/results.
  • Distinguishes between user error and actual application bugs.
  • Defines project expectations and timelines for deliverables to fellow team members.

Front-end Developer

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the development of complex web applications. Bridging the gap between design and development, the Front-End Developer can take wireframes and/or pixel-perfect mockups and convert them to living, breathing web applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Plans, develops, tests, edits, maintains, and documents the flow of web pages and websites.
  • Create and maintain project milestones on long-term projects
  • Communicates with the sales department to determine customer needs and goals.

  • Analyze business requirements and write technical documentation such as blueprints and product specification based on those needs.

  • Codes websites with a mobile-first approach and responsive web design principles. Can code responsive websites using a framework and from scratch.
  • Creates deployment procedures and deploys websites to the servers at PSP or delivers the pages to the customer.
  • Writes documentation to describe program development, coding, and corrections.
  • Able to make technology recommendations and suggestions to design and develop scalable solutions.

Senior Software Engineer

SUMMARY

This position designs, develops and maintains new and existing web-based software to meet the needs of Pacific Software Publishing, Inc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Communicates with the sales department, researches and designs web programming specifications for customers.
  • Provides project estimates to the Applications Team Manager and Project Coordinator.

  • Provide website maintenance and enhancements
  • Use a combination of markup languages to write web pages
  • Write functional requirement documents and specifications
  • Create quality mockups and prototypes on tight timelines
  • Assist Front-end Developers and Designers with coding and troubleshooting
  • Assists Server Team in providing spec on server requirements for both new applications and upgrades to existing software.
  • Configures and manages web servers and databases (Apache, PHP, MySQL and more) on CentOS servers
  • Ensures all systems on servers meet the intended business requirements
  • Develops with a strong focus on high level software security
  • Documents server information, installation procedures and configurations
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) from four year college or university; five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of MVC frameworks
  • Interested and willing to work closely with Designers and Front-end Developers to create quality UI/UX for client and in-house applications
  • Can explain technical concepts to people from a non-technical background
  • Familiar with Linux
  • Familiar with SQL
  • Working knowledge of any flavor of RDBMS such as MySQL, SQL Server, Postgresql
  • Has experience working with source code management such as Git or SVN
  • Able to build web applications with a focus on security, stability, and scalability
  • Can think outside-of-the-box to find simple solutions to complex problems in order to build software for business level users.
  • Extremely comfortable creating accurate estimates quickly and comfortably
  • Capable of reviewing the code of more junior developers to offer valuable feedback
  • Comfortable reviewing, learning and developing on legacy platforms as needed.
  • Expert level communicator and multitasker

Candidate must be available to work onsite in either our Bellevue, WA or San Diego, CA offices.
