We have exciting news to share. If you’ve visited Japanese Online (JOL) recently, you may have noticed some major changes happening. We’ve deployed a comprehensive redesign and rebrand of the entire JOL platform.
Behind the scenes, our teams have been working hard to modernize your experience, and we are thrilled to pull back the curtain on the new look.
Here’s everything you need to know about the refresh.
A Modern “Re-Skin” for a Better Experience
Our primary goal with this redesign was to improve usability with a modern aesthetic while crafting a strong, concept-driven logo built around a custom JOL monogram. We wanted JOL to feel fresh, clean, and intuitive. The creative direction began with the idea of merging a recognizable Japanese visual symbol with the brand name initials. As one of the most iconic minimalist flags in the world, the Japanese flag aligned perfectly with the brand’s mission: to make the Japanese language learning accessible and easy to understand for beginners.
We’ve completely re-skinned the user interface. You’ll notice the cleaner typography, improved navigation menus, and a layout designed to help you find what you need faster.
Our expert design team has decades of experience helping small businesses design stellar, high-converting websites, and they continue to do so with our budget-friendly web design packages. They've taken those same skills for this redesign, ensuring a modern, user-friendly interface for our JOL community.
To reflect JOL’s values of clarity and ease of learning, the visual language needed to reflect straightforwardness. Our new monogram uses:
- Minimal geometric forms to maintain legibility at small digital sizes.
- A limited color palette inspired by the Japanese flag, ensuring immediate cultural association.
- Crisp linework and balanced spacing to support a calm, welcoming impression—ideal for an educational setting.
The result is a mark that feels confident and approachable without unnecessary embellishment.
Powered by Biznomos: More Than Just Membership Software
While we’re excited about the new user-friendly changes, we’re just excited about what’s happening behind the scenes. This entire redesign project–from concept to deployment–was built using Biznomos.
Most people know Biznomos as a powerful membership association software, but the JOL redesign serves as the perfect demonstration that Biznomos is more than just a backend management tool. We took the robust, existing JOL content structure and applied a completely new, complex visual design directly within Binomos.
