NOC Monitoring Technician

This position is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, supporting, and reporting on server and network environment at PSP's Network Operation Center (in Fisher Plaza Data Center) to ensure that services are available to all users.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Monitors display screen to detect error/problematic messages that signal malfunction in server and/or network.
  • Uses CLI (Command Line Interface) and TCP/IP protocols to verify, determine, and diagnose problems.
  • Troubleshoots and assists customers to perform any remediation steps necessary when problems are realized.
  • Records number of daily data communications transactions and number of problems and actions taken.
  • Updates documentation to record new equipment installed and changes made to computer configurations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Programmer (R&D – Applications Team)

SUMMARY

This position designs, develops and maintains new and existing web-based software to meet the needs of Pacific Software Publishing, Inc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Communicates with the sales department, researches and designs web programming specifications for customers.
  • Provides project estimates to the Applications Team Manager and Project Coordinator.
  • Provides specifications to managers, solicits feedback, and troubleshoots issues as needed.
  • Creates PHP, C, Visual Basic, Javascript and Perl program code on Linux and Windows systems.
  • Implements dynamically generated HTML.
  • Demonstrates websites to customers and solicits feedback, troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Assists Server Team members in deploying site updates and new projects.
  • Creates and submits all documentation as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Programmer (R&D – Systems Team)

SUMMARY

This position writes programs to maintain and control computer systems software of PSP customers

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Writes, updates, and maintains computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs such as tracking inventory, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment.
  • Writes, analyzes, reviews, and rewrites programs, using workflow chart and diagram, and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic.
  • Corrects errors by making appropriate changes and rechecking the program to ensure that the desired results are produced.
  • Performs systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain and control the use of computer systems software as a systems programmer.
  • Compiles and writes documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program.
  • Prepares detailed workflow charts and diagrams that describe input, output, and logical operation, and converts them into a series of instructions coded in a computer language.
  • Consults with and assists computer operators or system analysts to define and resolve problems in running computer programs.

Technical Support Technician

SUMMARY

This position provides phone, email and on-site computer and network support to PSP customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Answers support calls and emails from clients and works with them to resolve issues.
  • Sets up network devices, Windows servers, client PCs and network printers at customer site.
  • Performs on-site computer/network analysis, repairs and maintenance.
  • Takes ownership of in-depth issues and troubleshoots as needed. Educates and explains features and functionality of computers/networks to customers.
  • Works with other departments to solve problems.
  • Effectively documents all requests and resolutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Web Designer (Bilingual)

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the design and creation of web pages and websites for PSP and PSP customers. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and updating web pages and websites for existing clients and PSP web applications. The candidate will also be responsible for updates, development, and translation for Chinese websites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, designs, develops, tests, edits, maintains, and documents the look and flow of web pages and websites.
  • Communicates with the sales department to determine customer needs and goals.
  • Designs a plan for proposed sites using a combination of graphic and written material, and modifies designs as necessary in cooperation with the sales department and customer.
  • Creates specifications and estimates of the project and reports to the sales department.
  • Creates graphics, Flash animations, and HTML/CSS templates for websites.
  • The ability to handcode without the use of third party applications such as Dreamweaver is preferable.
  • Knowledge in using Javascript, XSL, and Flash Active if a web page requires dynamic scripts is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of FTP.
  • Presents pages to the customers to solicit feedback and modifies pages as needed.
  • Troubleshoots any issues on web pages such as cross browser compatibility problems on all major web browsers.
  • Develops all projects with a strong foundation on the latest web standards.
  • Creates deployment procedures and deploys website updates to servers at PSP.
  • Writes documentation to describe program development, coding and corrections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's Degree from a two year college or university, or equivalent in a certified technical college and one to two years of professional web design experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Fluency in CSS, HTML and Javascript with an understanding of cross-browser design issues and a strong foundation in building semantically correct/standards compliant websites.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and an in-depth knowledge of online media production practices, such as web and cross-browser support.
  • PHP, XML, cakePHP, and knowledge of version control desired.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Native level Chinese language skill is necessary for both written and verbal communication and content translation.
