Web Application Tester

SUMMARY

Develops testing procedures and documentation for websites and web applications created within the Research & Development department. This includes but is not limited to writing and executing testing procedures, as well as assisting in determining a standard for the work-flow of projects from initial development through bug testing, deployment, and verification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Have knowledge of testing strategies/methodologies that can be applied in websites and web application testing.
  • Comprehends the full scope of a web application or website to develop applicable and comprehensive testing procedures.
  • Applies appropriate test methodologies including writing test plans, test cases, conduct manual tests and use/create automation/or tools.
  • Provides feedback on cause and effect of bugs and errors in a given test situation.
  • Provides clear and concise feedback on bugs, usability and other test findings/results.
  • Implements a work-flow standard for the full project life-cycle.
  • Distinguishes between user error and actual application bugs.
  • Defines project expectations and timelines for deliverables to fellow team members.
  • Monitors and maintains lab machines regularly with software updates and upgrades.
  • Identify and advocate QA testing standards and processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Technical certification in a computer or web related field; or, equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated QA skills such as test planning, writing test specifications, ad hoc and planned test execution, bug isolation, troubleshooting and bug reporting.
  • Working knowledge of web design and web programming preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows operating systems, MAC and Mobile devices.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Fluency in Japanese preferred.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to analyze needs and product requirements to provide solutions.

Web Designer

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the design and creation of web pages and websites for PSP and PSP customers. This position is also responsible for maintaining and updating web pages and websites for existing clients and PSP web applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Plans, designs, develops, tests, edits, maintains, and documents the look and flow of web pages and websites.
  • Communicates with the sales department to determine customer needs and goals.
  • Designs a plan for proposed site using combination of graphic wireframes, mockups and written material. Modifies designs as necessary in cooperation with the sales department and customer.
  • Creates specifications and estimates of the project and reports to the sales department.
  • Creates wireframes, mockups, and templates (using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) for web pages on all platforms (desktop, tablet, and mobile).
  • Deploys websites to test servers.
  • Presents websites to the customers to solicit feedback and modifies web pages as needed.
  • Troubleshoots any issues on web pages such as cross browser compatibility problems on all major web browsers.
  • Develops all projects with a strong foundation on the latest web standards.
  • Codes websites with a mobile-first approach and responsive web design principles. Can code responsive websites using a framework and from scratch.
  • Creates deployment procedures and deploys websites to the servers at PSP or delivers the pages to the customer.
  • Writes documentation to describe program development, coding, and corrections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's Degree from a two year college or university, or equivalent from a certified technical college; one to two years of professional web design experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Fluency in CSS3, HTML5 and JavaScript with an understanding of cross-browser design issues and a strong foundation in building semantically correct/standards compliant websites.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and what it takes to build an engaging web experience for users.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and an in-depth knowledge of online media production practices such as web and cross-browser support.
  • PHP, cakePHP, and knowledge of version control desired.
  • Ability to handcode without use of third party applications such as Dreamweaver is preferable.
  • Strong knowledge of FTP.
  • Knowledge in using JavaScript and JavaScript libraries such as jQuery if a web page requires dynamic features.
  • Experience with print design is a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment.
  • Fluency in Japanese is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

NOC Monitoring Technician

SUMMARY

We have a full-time opportunity available for a dedicated, entry-level or intermediate NOC Monitoring Technician. This role is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, supporting, and reporting on server and network environment at the Network Operation Center to ensure that services are available to all users.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Monitors display screen to detect error/problematic messages that signal malfunction in server and/or network.
  • Uses CLI (Command Line Interface) and TCP/IP protocols to verify, determine, and diagnose problems.
  • Troubleshoots and assists customers to perform any remediation steps necessary when problems are realized.
  • Submits reports to relevant departments should service issues arise that contain information such as time of occurrence and cause of issue.
  • Updates documentation to record new equipment installed and changes made to server or service configurations.
  • Escalates ongoing problems to server administrators/engineers after attempting initial troubleshooting procedures.
  • Monitors ticketing system for ticket updates and escalates tickets to the appropriate departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
